AUSTIN, Texas – June 27, 2025 – The ˿Ƶ (TEA) today announced the decisions on Generation 30 charter school applications following the State Board of Education’s (SBOE) vote on recommendations from Commissioner of Education Mike Morath.
The following Generation 30 charter school applicants are slated to begin serving Texas public school students for the 2026-2027 school year, pending contract approval and the reconciliation of any final contingencies:
Reading Language Arts Scores Surpass Pre-Pandemic Levels
AUSTIN, Texas – June 17, 2025 – The ˿Ƶ (TEA) today released the 3-8 Spring 2025 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) results. The results include assessments in reading language arts (RLA) and mathematics in grades 3-8, as well as 5th and 8th grade science and 8th grade social studies.
AUSTIN, Texas – June 10, 2025 – The ˿Ƶ (TEA) today released the spring 2025 results for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) high school End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. These results are a key measure of how Texas students are performing in Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II and U.S. History.
This year’s results show modest year-over-year changes, with gains in Algebra I and Biology and slight declines in English I, English II and U.S. History.

The agency remains prohibited from issuing 2024 ratings due to ongoing legal action.

This marks an important step and highlights the progress the district has made in improving both student academic performance and governance practices.
AUSTIN, Texas – January 29, 2025 – The ˿Ƶ (TEA) today announced Texas’s results on the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). 2024 NAEP results reinforce what results on the 2024 State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) have shown Texas educators - persistent challenges remain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NAEP is administered in reading and math for a sample of students in 4th and 8th grades roughly every two years in every state.
