AUSTIN, Texas – January 29, 2025 – The Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ (TEA) today announced Texas’s results on the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). 2024 NAEP results reinforce what results on the 2024 State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) have shown Texas educators - persistent challenges remain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NAEP is administered in reading and math for a sample of students in 4th and 8th grades roughly every two years in every state. 

The report offers key insights for policymakers, educators, families, and community members invested in the success of Texas public schools.

Majority of Texas School Systems Earn Top Ratings, Reflecting Financial Integrity and Accountability

AUSTIN, Texas – November 8, 2024 – The Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ (TEA) today released final financial accountability ratings for Texas public school systems, with 83 percent earning an ‘A’ or Superior Achievement rating for the 2023-2024 school year. These school systems reflect a continued commitment to effective financial management practices so that they can best serve students.

Charter Applicants Vetted Through a Rigorous Application Process Before Recommendation and Consideration by the SBOE 

AUSTIN, Texas – July 2, 2024 – The Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ (TEA) today announced the State Board of Education (SBOE) vote following Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath’s recommendation to grant Generation 29 charters. Pending contract approval and the reconciliation of any final contingencies, the following four Generation 29 charter school applicants are slated to begin serving Texas public school students for the 2025-2026 school year:

The results include assessments in mathematics and reading-language arts (RLA) in grades 3-8, 5th and 8th grade science and 8th grade social studies.
